We’re GMR BUILD—a small, trusted team led by George, a general contractor and skilled carpenter with over a decade of experience, and Michaela, who keeps everything running behind the scenes, from client communication, social media and bookkeeping.

Our story started on a mail route in Madison. Michaela was a mail carrier, and George was working as a general contractor. For about six months, she delivered his mail—often greeted by his dog, Bodi, who would signal it was time for George to take a break from his carpentry and maybe chat with the mail lady. Eventually, one of those front-yard conversations turned into something more.

Since then, we’ve built both a business and a life together—rooted in good work, clear communication, and the kind of trust that only grows with time. Now in its fifth year, G.M. Reynolds officially became a two-person team when Michaela joined in year four.

These days, when we’re not immersed in a client project, we’re working on our own ever-evolving riverfront home. George finds his rhythm fishing the nearby waters, while Michaela’s happiest outdoors in the dirt, shaping the landscape one garden bed at a time. Penny, Michaela’s second shadow, is never far behind. The hum of bees—relocated from George’s hives back in Madison—now fills the backyard, a quiet reminder that thoughtful work always pays off.
